Orthodontic O- Rings Adjusting Maxillomandibular Occlusion

Orthodontic O- Rings  are core elastic consumables in orthodontics. Unlike elastic chains, they feature an individual, single-loop structure. Relying on continuous traction, they are used to align upper and lower teeth, retract anterior teeth, and adjust occlusion. They are frequently used in conjunction with brackets, buccal tubes, and orthodontic mini-screws .

    Product Introduction

Elastics are typically made from medical-grade polymeric elastomers, such as rubber or polyurethane. Common types include ligature ties, separators, elastic chains, and O-rings. They can be presented in chain, thread, tube, or ring forms. Used in orthodontic treatments, they serve various purposes like ligation, tooth separation, traction, and torque application. Orthodontic elastics are core elastic consumables in orthodontics. Unlike elastic chains, they feature an individual, single-loop structure. Relying on continuous traction, they are used to align upper and lower teeth, retract anterior teeth, and adjust occlusion. Specifications & Models

Classified into various standard models based on force levels and stretched distances:

    1.     1/8", 3/16" (Small Size): Designed for short-distance traction. Used for fine adjustments of anterior teeth and light Class II / Class III traction.

    2.     1/4" (Universal): The most widely used model in clinical practice. Ideal for routine occlusal adjustments and moderate retraction.

    3.     5/16" (Medium-Large Size): Suitable for medium-distance traction. Used for improving deep overbites and massive retraction of anterior teeth.

    4.     3/8" (Large Size): Designed for long-distance traction. Applied in the traction of low-impacted teeth and the distalization of molars using mini-screws.

    Core Clinical Functions

    Adjusting Maxillomandibular Occlusion (Primary Application)

Class II Traction: Corrects buck teeth and protruding upper teeth by pulling the upper posterior teeth and lower anterior teeth backward.

Class III Traction: Corrects underbites by pulling the lower posterior teeth backward and the upper anterior teeth forward.

Vertical Traction (Box Traction): Improves deep overbites and open bites, adjusting the vertical occlusal relationship.

Retracting Anterior Teeth to Improve Bimaxillary Protrusion

Used in conjunction with mini-screws (TADs) to retract the entire anterior segment backward, thereby reducing facial profile protrusion.

    Correcting Midline Discrepancies

Applied unilaterally to align the midlines of the upper and lower central incisors.

    Erupting Impacted or Low-Positioned Teeth

Assists in the gradual eruption and proper positioning of impacted canines and wisdom teeth.

    Closing Minor Residual Spaces

Used in the late stages of orthodontic treatment for minor space closure and fine-tuning of scattered gaps.
