    Product Description

Elastics are typically made from medical-grade polymeric elastomers, such as rubber or polyurethane. Common types include ligature ties, separators, elastic chains, and O-rings. They can be presented in chain, thread, tube, or ring forms. Used in orthodontic treatments, they serve various purposes like ligation, tooth separation, traction, and torque application.

Separators are considered preliminary consumables in orthodontics and are used in conjunction with fixed bracket appliances. Before bonding bands, they utilize elastic force to create space between adjacent molars, providing the necessary room for band placement. Thus, they are an indispensable consumable for molar band fitting, typically applied to the 6th and 7th teeth.

These separators are available in blue and transparent colors, featuring an S-shape. Each pack contains 10 strands, with 70 small rings per strand, totaling 700 individual separators.

    Creating Space for Orthodontic Bands

    Core Function

    Creating Space for Orthodontic Bands

For patients just starting orthodontic treatment, molars are often in tight contact with no natural space for band placement. Separators are wedged between two molars to provide continuous elastic expansion, creating the necessary gap over a period of 3 to 7 days.

    Separating Tightly Contacted Teeth

Molars may be tightly pressed together due to tooth rotation, crowding, or retained primary (baby) teeth. Separating these teeth facilitates subsequent procedures, such as taking impressions, bonding bands, and placing buccal tubes.

    Assisting in Minor Space Management

In specific cases, separators can be used to temporarily create a micro-gap, assisting in the alignment of anterior teeth.

    Advantages

1.Easy to operate and quick to place, causing significantly less patient discomfort compared to metal orthodontic separators.

2.Soft texture without sharp metal edges, minimizing the risk of causing oral ulcers.

3.Latex-free options available for allergy-prone patients, ensuring excellent biocompatibility.

4.Cost-effective and designed for single use, maintaining strict hygiene and eliminating the risk of cross-infection.

    1
What material are these separators made of?
Made of medical‑grade polymer elastomer, good elasticity, moderate force for tooth separation.
    2
How long can separators stay in patient’s mouth?
Normally stay 3‑7 days. Clinicians should decide the wearing time according to patient’s condition. Not for long‑term wearing.
    3
Will patients feel pain after placing separators?
Mild soreness of molars is normal within 1‑3 days caused by separating force. Severe continuous pain needs doctor check‑up.
    4
Can separators fall off by themselves?
Sometimes separators may slip out when chewing hard food. If lost too early, please consult orthodontist for replacement.
    5
Can separators replace elastic chain or ligature ties?
No. Separators are only for creating initial molar space, not for ligation or space‑closing.
    6
What storage condition do you recommend?
Store in cool dry place, avoid direct sunlight and high temperature to prevent aging of elastic material.
