They can be presented in chain, thread, tube, or ring forms. Used in orthodontic treatments, they serve various purposes like ligation, tooth separation, traction, and torque application.
Separators are considered preliminary consumables in orthodontics and are used in conjunction with fixed bracket appliances. Before bonding bands, they utilize elastic force to create space between adjacent molars, providing the necessary room for band placement. Thus, they are an indispensable consumable for molar band fitting, typically applied to the 6th and 7th teeth.
