The function of nickel titanium coated wire is to significantly reduce the sliding resistance between the archwire and the bracket, resulting in faster tooth movement and shorter treatment duration. The advantage is a smooth surface, reducing ligation friction, and suitable for sliding to close gaps.
Product Description
Nickel
titanium coated wire is an orthodontic archwire coated with a functional thin
film on the surface of ordinary nickel titanium alloy archwire through
physical/chemical methods such as sputtering, deposition, and electrostatic
spraying. The core is a nickel titanium substrate,
and the outer layer is coated with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), epoxy resin,
and other coatings. The function of nickel titanium coated
wire is to significantly reduce the sliding resistance between the archwire and
the bracket, resulting
in faster tooth movement and shorter treatment duration. The advantage is a smooth surface, reducing ligation friction, and suitable
for sliding to close gaps.

Advantage
1. The substrate performance remains unchanged: retaining
the superelasticity, shape memory, and sustained light force of nickel titanium
wire, with the same alignment effect as ordinary nickel titanium wire.
2. Low friction and high sliding performance: The
friction coefficient is 30% -50% lower than that of ordinary nickel titanium
wire, and teeth move more smoothly.
3. Aesthetic invisibility: White/transparent coating
solves the problem of metal "steel teeth" and improves patient
acceptance.
4. Low allergenicity and safer: The coating isolates
nickel ions, which can be used by people with nickel allergies and has better
biocompatibility.
5. Corrosion resistance and long lifespan: resistant to
saliva, food acid and alkali corrosion, not easy to rust or break.
6. Antibacterial and easy to clean: The surface is less
prone to bacterial plaque, making oral cleaning easier.
Precautions for use
• Avoid high-temperature disinfection (such as high-pressure steam)
to prevent coating detachment, and it is recommended to sterilize with ethylene
oxide;
• Advise patients to eat less hard objects, chew less gum, and
reduce coating wear;
• The detachment of the coating does not affect the elasticity of
the substrate and can be continued to be used or replaced as needed;
• Fine adjustments in the later stage require the replacement of
stainless steel square wires.
