Kobayashi Wire, officially known as hooked ligature wire, is a pre formed stainless steel ligature wire specifically designed for orthodontics. Its core feature is a pre made traction hook at the end, which is used to secure the archwire and provide a traction fulcrum. It is an efficient consumable in orthodontic clinical practice, with an integrated design of pre formed traction hooks and ligatures, which simplifies operation, saves time, and improves comfort. It is widely used in various fixed orthodontic cases that require traction.There are two types of Kobayashi wires, 0.01 and 0.012 inches. Ligation
method: Same
as ordinary ligature wire, wrap the body end around the bracket wing, tighten
the fixing archwire, and pull the hook outward.
Hook length control:
Reserve a hook length of 3-4mm. If it is too long, it is easy
to prick the mucosa, and if it is too short, it is difficult to hang the rubber
band.
End treatment:
Cut the end of the ligature wire short and press it under the
archwire to avoid puncturing the soft tissues of the oral cavity.
Applicable scenarios:
Mostly used for upper and lower jaw canines, premolar areas, and
tooth positions that require traction.
