Lingual Button is a small metal accessory used in orthodontics, adhered to the inner side of teeth (tongue side), used as a traction hook, convenient for hanging rubber bands/chains, concealed and does not affect the appearance of a smile. Tongue buckle is the core accessory of orthodontic invisible traction, which balances function and aesthetics, and is widely used for bite adjustment, twisted tooth correction, and invisible correction assistance. Key points of use and care
1. Bonding: Tooth surface etching → Apply adhesive → Press the lingual buckle → Cure with light, operation takes about 5 minutes.
2. Initial discomfort: Within 1-2 weeks, the friction sensation on the tongue and pronunciation may be slightly affected, but many may be able to adapt.
3. Cleaning: Use an interdental brush/toothbrush to clean the inside and avoid food residue and tartar; Do not lick with your tongue to prevent detachment.
4. Removal treatment: Removal should be promptly followed up for re bonding to avoid affecting the treatment course.
Common Types
According to a fixed method
• Adhesive type: Base mesh, adhered to the inner side of teeth with orthodontic adhesive, most commonly used in clinical practice.
• Welding type: welded onto the loop/lingual archwire, commonly used for fixing orthodontic appliances.
By appearance
• Button type: Round button, compact and suitable for regular traction.
• Double wing type: With wings on both sides, it has a large bonding area and strong fixation, suitable for twisting teeth.
• Pull ring/hook type: With a loop/hook, it is convenient to hang the traction chain, and the traction force is more stable.
